Little Feat - Rock music

I was feeling nostalgic with the 40th anniversary of the moon landing & maybe 8 of my co-workers were even alive then. LF didn't release their 1st studio album until 2 years later. Listen to Willin'

Beirut - Pop music

it's haunting, soaring, lyrical and oddly calming. Zach Condon is a genius.

Billie Holiday - Torch song

her "You've Changed" is the best break up song ever. Use it as a ring tone for an ex.

Rubén Blades - Latin jazz

a friend gave me the album Antecedente in 1988 or so and I've loved his work ever since. Hearing Patria makes you wish you were Panamanian.

Rope (1948) directed by Alfred Hitchcock

it's one of my favorites from Hitchcock. Incredible filming technique and those two kids are just twisted. Random factoid: a young Hume Cronyn gets writing credits. Worth adding to your queue.

Dire Straits - Rock music

I like Sultans of Swing as much as I did in 1978 - maybe even more.

The Alice B. Toklas Cookbook (1954) written by Alice B. Toklas

a really great memoir that happens to have great recipes too. A great read, a love story and the infamous recipe for Hashish Fudge. First published in 1954 and still in print.
