I like how Scott respects children as individuals, and doesn't create a nostalgia for an innocent youth. The book represents each of their struggles as important: just as they would have seen them.
Yes, thought provoking...cultural criticism...nihilistic philosophy...yada yada. Really, you'll enjoy it for how the rhythmic dialog interplays with the visual pacing turning simple words into poetry.
